Who We Are
Founded by Peter Spendiff and Kathy Wood, Spendwood Dance & Gymnastics opened its doors in 1964 at 88 Remsen Street in Cohoes, New York. In its early years, the studio operated what was known as the “Spendwood Circuit,” traveling to communities including Round Lake, Cambridge, Melrose, and beyond to offer weekly dance classes.
In 1974, current owners Margie (Spendiff) Pascale and Ralph Pascale took over the studio, operating first out of the Knights of Columbus on 3rd Street in Waterford. Over the years, Spendwood has called several Waterford locations home—including buildings on 3rd Street, Broad Street, and Saratoga Avenue—before moving to its current location in 2000, where it continues to serve generations of dancers and gymnasts.
Classically trained at Boston Conservatory, Margie has poured her passion, dedication, and love of dance into Spendwood for over 60 years. Her enthusiasm has inspired thousands of students, creating a welcoming environment where confidence, friendships, and lifelong memories are built.
Today, Spendwood proudly continues its tradition of excellence as a family-owned studio, offering quality dance and gymnastics instruction while remaining committed to helping every student grow both in and out of the classroom.
